Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by persistent difficulties in regulating attention, emotions, and behaviours. While the exact cause of ADHD remains elusive, ongoing research suggests that genetic predisposition, environmental factors, and developmental challenges may contribute to its manifestation.
Anatomy and Developmental Factors
Research indicates that individuals with ADHD may exhibit anatomical differences in their brains compared to neurotypical individuals. Notably, children with ADHD tend to have reduced grey and white matter volumes in specific brain regions, such as the frontal lobes, caudate nucleus, and cerebellar vermis. Additionally, they demonstrate distinct patterns of brain activation during various cognitive tasks.
Our Clinical Findings

In our clinic, we have conducted five sessions with a seven-year-old girl diagnosed with ADHD. During these sessions, we observed several concerning anatomical abnormalities. The girl’s scalp exhibited excessive tightness, and the posterior cervical plexus was also restricted. Furthermore, the fasciae at the falx cerebri, which separates the cerebral hemispheres and provides structural support, appeared rigid. Additionally, the tentorium cerebelli, a crucial fascial element that transmits tensions from the neck and head to the central nervous system and vice versa, was excessively tight.
Approach
Our comprehensive approach to addressing the girl’s condition involves releasing deep fascia tension, optimizing blood flow, and reducing the irritation of the cranial nerves. This holistic approach is complemented by visceral manipulation , visceral vascular manipulation , manual therapy for cranial nerve and peripheral nerve and osteo articulation for alignment in the hips, knees, ankles, and feet.
Achievements Made:
The girl’s focus has significantly improved. She can now complete a 50-minute session without the assistance of YouTube video. Her teacher has noted a positive development in her listening skills and coordination. Her parents have observed an increase in her calmness and relaxation.
